World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.
Welcome to my life, unscripted.
My name is Brandelyn.
Several of my family members suffer from anxiety, ptsd and depression.
More than one family member has taken their life by suicide.
I used to be sensitive about this topic, and too shy to talk about it.
Partially because of the stigma that surrounds ‘mental health issues’.
But mostly because I didn’t understand enough about mental health issues.
So I’ve spent the past 20 years educating myself.
And the past year contending with my own anxiety + post traumatic stress disorder.
I’ve decided to share my story in the event that it helps others.
My story of understanding and managing trauma and it’s after effects.
