I’m not going to lie, I was a bit apprehensive about the idea of ‘tenting it’ in the wilderness. I mean seriously, in my imaginative mind, the thought of a little canvas hut being the only thing between you and some sort of hungry, 4 legged wildebeast left little to be desired. 😂.
Me: (On the first night) Babe…what was that noise??? It sounded like a growl.
Him: That would be the adjacent camper’s water pump.
Me: Oh, ok. 😂😂😂
Seeing how we made it through the first night unscathed, I decided that this type of adventure might not be so terrifying after all.
That being said, here’s how you can set up a perfect little campsite in under twenty minutes!
Grab yourself an amazing ‘instant tent’ ⛺️, it literally sets itself up within minutes. I was quite impressed! We had the Coleman version, but there are plenty of options that literally pitch themselves when you toss it!!! 😂. No more struggling with rogue and unruly tent poles.

Next up, the Tiki Bar! Given the fact that there is currently a fire ban, we needed somewhere fun to gather! So we fastened our ‘funbrella’ to the fire pit and set up shop accordingly. Margarita anyone?

Every perfect campsite needs refuge from the ever changing elements. Sure you can use a tarp, but why not grab a colourful sunshade and up your game?!

By now, you’re likely ready for a little nap. What better way to do so than in a hammock? This was the perfect little afternoon getaway for me.

Finally, the slack line! Such a great little addition to any campsite! Balance training anyone? If you are looking to up your game in this department, a slack line is definitely the answer. It’s challenging, but so much fun.

All in all, Premiere Lake Provincial Park was an incredible weekend getaway that we highly recommend. We spent hours paddling the lake and swimming to beat the 35C heat.

What are your campsite must haves? Drop a comment below, we’d love to know!
