As humans, we often over complicate our lives which then turns into the perfect excuse for why we can’t do something. So many of us complain that we’d like to be healthier, but we can’t afford to go to the gym, or we don’t have time, we make poor choices when it come to nutrition, we stay up late on our devices or, insert whatever excuse you tell yourself here.
The reality is, we just choose not to be healthy. We don’t take the necessary time to invest in our own well-being because we have chosen something else over it.
For the next 30 days, I challenge you to replace the time you spend scrolling on your device with the activities on the list below.
Here are 10 things that you can do to get you started on your wellness journey:
- Practice deep breathing techniques: Deep breathing activates the body’s relaxation response and can help reduce stress and anxiety.
- Engage in regular exercise: Physical activity releases endorphins, which are natural mood boosters and stress relievers.
- Incorporate mindfulness meditation: Taking time to sit quietly and focus on the present moment can help calm the mind and reduce stress levels.
- Get enough sleep: Prioritize good sleep habits, as lack of sleep can increase stress levels and make it harder to cope with everyday challenges.
- Maintain a healthy diet: Eating a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can provide the necessary nutrients for managing stress.
- Spend time in nature: Being in nature has a calming effect on the mind and body, reducing stress levels.
- Engage in hobbies or activities you enjoy: Doing something you love can distract your mind from stressors and provide a sense of accomplishment and relaxation.
- Practice time management: Prioritizing and organizing tasks can help reduce feelings of overwhelm and stress associated with work or personal life.
- Connect with loved ones: Talking to a trusted friend or family member can provide emotional support and help alleviate stress.
- Practice self-care: Take time for self-care activities that recharge your energy and nurture your mental and physical well-being, such as taking a bath, reading a book, or getting a massage.
